Yet, in the face of adversity, her daughters embarked on a mission to bring a piece of Assam's splendor to her doorstep.

Among the treasures unearthed was a resplendent plum and gold saree, adorned with intricate embroideries of rhinoceroses—a homage to the majestic fauna that roams Assam's verdant landscapes. Assam silk, particularly Muga silk and Eri silk, is celebrated for its unique qualities and characteristics. Muga silk, with its natural golden color, is harvested from the cocoons of the Muga silkworm—a process that requires meticulous care and expertise. Similarly, Eri silk, also known as "peace silk," is harvested without harming the silkworm, making it a cruelty-free and eco-friendly alternative to conventional silk production methods.

Assam silk sarees are really hard to find. I got my mom’s from a site called Shobitam, which was an amazing find. Unfortunately, they do not currently have a Assam silk saree with the traditional embroidery at this moment, but I will definitely share some links as I find them!
